She studied at the art academy “Academie voor Beeldende Kunst” in Rotterdam (1940-1944), a few months after the bombing of Rotterdam. After her marriage with Guy Maton she travelled to Africa to live there from 1954 until 1965. During her time there she painted the majority of her works. Furtermore, she painted the portraits of friends and family.
